Strong story-based RPG experience! Very impressive.
The core mechanics are focused on exploration and management of your Expedition, including its members, rations, equipment, and of course - combat. Hunt for food, Guard from invaders, and Patrol your campsite each night to survive and further your conquest. Each member has a job to perform for survival of the whole, and each class has a combat role to play that can be varied by choosing different feats and skills while leveling up.
You begin the game by building your expeditionary team from a varied selection of characters. Each character has a back story and personality traits that determine how they will interact with you and the other members of the team. As you complete quests and explore the New World, these characters will evolve via experience, skills, and story elements in an engaging way. The combat is appropriately difficult, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. So far, every battle has been a close call, and the story has been an addictive and dramatic series of random events and branching story arcs.
For anyone that has a soft spot for turn-based strategy, this should be in your collection.
