Most addictive and immersive online game for days and days... but what about after those few days? Read on.

User Rating: 3 | Exteel PC
I, too loved exteel. I downloaded in skepticism, but the first 50 or so hours I put into it was some of the most fun I've had on my PC this site of Diablo II. After that, however, it just fell apart. I will explain, in detail, why.

Presentation: The controls are standard wasd and point your mouse and click to shoot. Story is non-existent. Production values are horrible. There really is no interface, and the menus are clunky. They clearly didn't but much work into this aspect. Also, a lot of the things are stolen from the Gundam (specifically S.D Gundam) series, which is a huge minus. This game has the worst balancing I have ever seen in my life, and I've been a hardcore gamer since I was 6 years old. Like nexon, they(NCsoft) are a money-grubbing korean infestation... I mean company. But whereas in MapleStory the purchases didn't really impact gameplay much, here, if you have the real life cash, you can get the best armor/weapons in the game, while others are stuck with garbage until high levels. How fair is that? I wasted $80+ this way, slowly finding out everything new I bought meant nothing, since I would just get killed by smgs again. So many features you expect every game to have are left out, and there are glitches and map bugs in this game, that if you manage to discover, will cry foul thinking how in god's name could they be in a game, and the AI in bot matches is hilariously terrible. Also of note, the official trailer displays "classes". Let me tell you, nobody actually uses those combos, and classes in this game aren't real. Also, in the trailer, you will see for 50% of it the weapons being shown are tommy striker C's, being spammer over and over again. Hmm.... I wonder if that's what they wanted? The game has many pingers, which are people who purposely get high pings so that they teleport all across the screen, making it nigh-impossible to even touch them with a bullet. 1/10

Graphics: Bad at best, terribly ugly at worst. For a game made in 2005 (in korea), you'd expect more than psx-era graphics. Mechs have no real detail, stages are boring and bland, and everything is generally boring and bad. Don't come playing it expecting good graphics. Also, of note, many players (including myself until I changed some of my computer information and drivers) have been experiencing black-and-white mechs, and screen-flashing to the point where you can't see anything. Worst of all, the company will not help you on this, and the only real solution is to get new drivers, change your video card settings, and hope for the best. 1/10

Sound: What sound? The game has only 1 track. That's right, 1 track. You will hear this boring and uninspired track for the rest of your exteel career. The sound effects are hilariously fake too, particularly swords, The voices that rarely occur are very annoying, and your mech likes to shout the exact name of the skill, enunciating on capital letters, every time he uses a skill, and spray out random garbage you can't understand when you score a kill. 1/10

Gameplay: For the first few days or even weeks, depending on your patience, you will likely be spamming the 1st weapon you receive, the infamous Tommy-Striker C. And you may as well use it for the rest of your exteel career, seeing as how they're terrible overpowered, and even the highest levels in the game are still spamming them. They are SMGs with the range of rifles, the damage of rockets, and the overheat of spears. They, and every other smg, are infamously overpowered to the point that the game has absolutely no balance whatsoever, and you HAVE to spam them and another set of SMGs to get anywhere. Melle combat can be fun, but, again, you will just get killed by smgs. Once you stop using the strikers, and get new weapons, you will likely quit the game. Note: A recent, LONG AWAITED patch finally nerfed tommies. Or so we thought. Yes, they nerfed the range (but they still have the range of C-class rifles, and slightly less then B and A), and the damage significantly. But guess what? They added so much overheat and reload, that you can fire for 20seconds straight, and then reload in 2 seconds flat with pinkett. This amounts to over 5k damage if all your shots hit, and you can't possibly miss with the HUGE reticle of tommies, which just makes them more overpowered. They also decided to give hidden nerfs to every other non-smg in the game. Very nice- the reason I finally quit. 2/10

Lasting Appeal: Will likely be a blast for maybe 30-50 hours or so, but then you will likely quit in insane frustration... maybe not anymore, but if you were playing before this patch, you definitely would've. Honestly, don't bother with this game, and for heaven's sake, don't waste real-life cash. I made that mistake on this garbage and will regret it for a long time. Nothing to do except the 5 same game types over and over and over... but honestly, why bother? Every gametype is treated as deathmatch by the players, and they dont do anything except kill... so just play deathmatch all day and grind grind grind your meaningless levels. Fun,fun, fun! 4/10

Overall, this game is broken. Adding and talking to friends is a huge hassle, finding the game you want is an even bigger hassle, and getting a game started will make you rip your hair out. There are glitches in this game that are so insane I wonder to this day how on earth they could even be in a game. For example, in the arena map, I found a glitch nobody knows about, expect my friends. You can actually get on the huge TV. But that's not nearly it. If that wasn't bad enough, its possible to get on the ROOF thousands of feet up, and stand on LIGHT, being invulnerable and unable to fall off, but being able to hit anybody, despite how far off you are. And then, you can actually disappear in the background. That in a game. And that's just one of the 15+ gigantic glitches in the game.

If you like broken, extremely unbalanced, and repetitive games, this is a godsend.
