Eyetoy is extremely unique but it just isn't that fun and I don't think it should be considered a videogame.
Gameplay-Well, this game uses a camera to play it. You stand in the center of the screen and interact with things on screen. While it does sound really fun, I just don't think it is how videogames were ment to be played. It is just so boring at times. It has about 10 levels that are basically the same thing. They usually involve hitting this or waving your hand over this. Not only is it boring, but it is kind of tiring in the arms if you do it long enough. However, there is a two player which makes it a little better and harder diffictulties. There are a couple levels that I like, but most are just really blah and boring. But, I think the most fun thing of this game is the other things besides the games themselves. There is a picture kind of mode where you can make cool effects on screen and just interact with them like bubbles and cell shading. Even cooler is the video mode. You can do up to a 60 second video and play it back. It even plays the sound of what you did. It is extremely fun to use and you can save them. I have to say though, that that just isn't a videogame. The best parts of the game is the most non videogame parts like the movie thing. For that, I have to give the gameplay a 7. Without the video mode and the cool effects, I would give it a 4 at very best.
Graphics-While you and the environment you are playing in show up on screen, there is some on screen stuff. It looks really good and smooth. It is not very detailed, but good looking. For the most part, the camera picks up your movements very well. However, sometimes it doesn't and you can always clearly see then environment around you. It is to be expected, up it makes it look sloppy. The camera isn't very clear either. But I have to give it up because it is the first camera to be used in a videogame. (I think)
Sound-The sound is pretty annoying in this. The music is really techno and poppy and gets extremely annoying. The voice acting is no different, even though it is brief. Although the sounds are clear and crisp, they aren't very nice to listen to.
Value-You will probably quickly get bored with the levels unless you are a die-hard eyetoy fan who wants to get high scores. The other modes will last you hours and hours though. It is really fun to make short snippets with friends and watch them again.
Eyetoy is fun, but not in the parts that a videogame should be. I use it more as a goof off tape recorder. But still, it is new and fresh.
