Probably the Best Futuristic Racing Game Nintendo Consoles will Ever Have!
Well let's start with Story Mode. There are 9 chapters. Doesn't sound like a lot does it? But believe me, some are challenging, some are quite difficult and others are rock solid. And that's on Normal. Each chapter, when completed, has the option of Hard and Very Hard difficulty. Each chapter also starts and finishes with an impressive CGI cut-scene. The first chapter is given to you (before yet another impressive CGI prologue) but you'll have to buy the others. They link in fairly nicely to each other as well. Seriously though, your gonna shed some sweat off this story and it WILL take you a while to get through, never mind complete.
In Grand Prix mode, you'll race 30 pilots in 5 courses to unlock custom parts and earn tickets to buy stuff. But it's not too easy, especially for beginners. There are also 3 difficulties (plus one unlockable one!) and 3 cups (plus 2 unlockable ones!). You'll probably spend most of your play time in this mode. Note: If you complete the hardest difficulty (not available at the start) with an original (not-made-by-you) machine, you may get something nice...
Customise is where you spend all your tickets to buy machines, story chapters, staff ghosts and custom parts to make your very own machine. Oh yeah! You can even decorate your machine with patterns and if you don't like the default patterns, make your own!
Pilot Profiles is where you can look at the drivers of the machines you bought and their stories. It's also where that something nice can be found... Have you guessed what it is?
Time Attack is where you race on a track against the clock. Earn a few tickets, save your ghosts, and unlock super-fast staff ghosts. (No seriously, I can't beat them!)
Replay is where you, well, watch your replays which can be saved when your on Time Attack or Grand Prix.
Don't wanna race for real? On Practice you can hone your skills on any unlocked course. 1-20 or unlimited laps means its also a fun way to literally crush your rivals whilst racing on your favorite track. Mu ha!
This game is also multi-player and you can also battle it out against 1-3 friends!
So as you can see F-Zero GX is an EPIC racing game. The tracks, graphics and music (especially!) are all very impressive. It is, without a doubt, my favourite game for the Game Cube. I just hope they make one for Wii...
