F-Zero X, re-rendered for the more recent generation!
The graphics are amazing in this game. Honestly, some of the detail in some of the levels is remarkable. The skies, in particular, have been beautifully designed and seem really close to what might be if this game were reality. I also love the fact that they Nintendo brought back the vehicles from F-Zero X! They've been updated superbly too. The graphic detail on the vehicles is pretty remarkable. There is some wear-and-tear shown in some of the metal of the vehicles and you can take an even closer look in the Character Profiles menu.
The gameplay is a little hit-and-miss on me, however. It can be really exciting when you're racing, but I think they upped the challenge a little too much here. If you're familiar with the difficulties in F-Zero X, it's like they've added extras onto those! I find Standard Mode quite difficult on GX, especially on the 3rd Cup. However, there is the option to make custom vehicles, so that makes up for it.
Some of the new features in this game include the Custom Vehicles, like I've said, where you can create a machine from various vehicle-parts. At the end of each Grand Prix, you can also win Tokens which you spend on Vehicle Parts, additional F-Zero Machines and a few other bonuses such as progressing further in the Story Mode. Story Mode offers a variety of in-game tasks on various courses aswell as a few cut-scenes inbetween.
If you are a fan of the F-Zero series, this one's definately worth checking out aswell. If I'm honest, I was quite annoyed by how hard it was, in the beginning. But if you stick at it and improve, you give it a chance to become a more enjoyable experience!
