Codies have got better and better, F1 2011 is, by far, the greatest racing simulation of all time.
Handling
In F1 2010, hitting the apex just right and giving the right amount of kerb was near on impossible to do lap after lap. It was inevitable that you would screw it up at some point, mostly when you're least expecting it. In F1 2011, this has been completely remodeled. Cars now can smoothly touch the kerbs and glance over them beautifully. Of course there are hairy moments, and having the ability of being able to have a 50-50 chance of saving the spin is a welcome addition. The game feels more fluid as a result, you can confidently put in lap after lap without always having the feeling that you are too close to the edge. The cars handle impeccably and the added bonuses of KERS and DRS are well installed working brilliantly when used correctly.
AI
Although the AI still has glimpses of computer generated stupidity. The abilities and the general driving styles have been toned in wonderfully. On harder difficulties you generally feel like the AI is breathing down your neck, but when you are on the charge, you get a thrill following them wheel to wheel for a number of laps. Unfortunately, on these harder difficulties Qualifying can be slightly frustrating when the AI is putting in their fastest possible laps and you end up down the field. To then blast past them all doing 5-6 seconds a lap slower than their Qualy laps.
Tires
Wonderful again, careful on those Options, once you go below 60% your lap times drop by a number of seconds. Make sure your tires are fresh going into a race otherwise its hard to keep with the pack until you can pit.
Graphics
Codemasters classic, superbly designed and built, following the same logic as the equally great D3.
General
New cut scenes and more interactive options like Time Attack. Cut scenes add that little bit more to the whole race experience and make you feel pleased with how you've performed. Time attack is like a scenario mode where you are tasked with beating a lap on a specific track, under specific conditions in a specific car. These times then giving you a Bronze, Silver or Gold achievement and your name on the Global Wall of Fame. Great fun and an added bonus when you want to take a break from the career mode.
Overall
This is a truely wonderful game that is reccomended to any and every racing game fan. F1 may not be to everybodies taste, but as far as this game goes, it is the greatest F1 game of all time. Well Done Codies!!!
