Short of the hype, but better than the flames

Fable is definitely a fun game, but is missing certain elements to make it complete. The largest of which is difficulty. I never died, and failed a couple missions only because bandits snuck up on people I was escorting when I wasn't paying attention. Even then, the game just goes back to the start of the mission, no penalties involved. That said, there's still a lot to do in this game, with a fairly mixed variety. Gameplay can be a little repetitive, but there's a bunch of different magic spells you can use to mix it up. I personally just didn't like some of them. A friend had a completely different spell set from myself though, and played in quite a different fighting style than mine. The game lasted me a little more than 20 hours. I didn't feel the need to replay it, as the quests would all pretty much be the same. I suppose I could have gone through the game as being pure evil (I chose the mostly good track), but I spent a couple sessions killing townspeople left and right, and battling the guardsmen. After I got bored of it, I just loaded up an older save game to continue my quests. I know there are much sneakier things you can do when evil, but they didn't seem worth my time. Still, they're there if you're into that kind of thing. Overall, I'd say I liked this game, but don't think it's worth playing $50 for. If you can find it on sale or used for less than $30, it's probably a good deal. One closing comment, I liked this game much better than Morrowind. So if you couldn't get into that game (I couldn't), you can still enjoy this one.
