A good but short game with some minor problems.

User Rating: 8.3 | Fable: The Lost Chapters (Platinum Hits) XBOX
Fable: The Lost Chapters for the Xbox is a pretty good game. You start off as a kid, and a really bad thing happens and now you're in the Guild of Heroes. The Guild of Heroes trains you in combat and magic. Fable gives you two choices to do when playing the game, you can be good or bad. You could also be both, but there's not much to it. There's no real difference between playing as good or evil except for a different appearance, slightly different story, and different rewards. The content that Lost Chapters add on to the original game gave it about an extra 5 hours. The game is pretty linear but the story has a lot of twists to it. The game can be really addicting, but you can finish it in a week.

The combat in the game however wasn't that great. It uses mostly one button, and then the occasional power attack. The easiest way to play the game is using combat. Magic and bows are hard to use and are bad at crowd control, but are useful at a distance. Magic also has some useful shields like heal life, physical shield, and slow time. The reason physical shied is so useful is because it lets you use your mana as a health bar and lets you keep your combat multiplier. Combat multiplier goes up as the amount of damage you deal goes up. The higher your combat multiplier the more experience you get when you collect the experience orbs. The graphics of this game are pretty good for a Xbox, but there are problems with it. Sometimes the game would freeze out of nowhere. Or when you're loading a save file it will really slow down and take about 5 minutes just to load. But that could come from using a 360. The voice acting in the game is bad and gets annoying. The quests, leveling up, getting money, and doing the other things are pretty easy. When you take on a quest you can boast. The boasts will range from not taking damage to do a quest related thing or doing something good or bad. Boasts get you extra gold and renown if you do them, and subtract gold if you fail. Renown is how famous you are in the world and is very easy to get up by killing monsters. The way you level up is by getting experience and using that experience to upgrade three main categories. Strength, Skill, and Will. Its really easy to max out your character but he will get old. The more you use the level up device, the more your character ages. There are also little things you can do like marry, have sex, buy houses and stores, and other side quests. The game gets addicting, but if you go through just the story its about 20 hours. The other side quests add on an extra 10 hours about. A solid story, if somewhat disappointing, good game play, and the multiple things to do make this game very good. The bad things like voice acting, button mashing, and some problems with frame rate and freezing only diminish how great this game could be. Anyone who likes RPGs should give this game a shot or rent it at least.
