Very rarely does it get better than this. Suberb, enchanting, entralling, mystical, funny, and ambient.

I was half-expecting to be disappointed upon playing this game for all the hype it has received. Let me just tell you that the game is great. The longest I’ve played a game straight with no interruptions was Vice City at 12 hours and I just played Fable the first day for about 12 ½. It is very, very addictive. The graphics are incredible and the sound is great. The music really fits the mood and is one of the perfect parts of the game. When you do certain things in the game, you will get reactions from people as they walk by and applaud your wasp slaying or arena championship. Also, buying a title and have people calling it out to you makes you feel important and powerful. This level of respect and renown that you earn in the game is awesome. Also, the character customization just in the clothing is great. As you level up, it begins to show on your character, especially on the strength side. He’ll go from a scrawny, runt of a boy to a hulking beast of a warrior, giving you this sense of power that you can wield for the side of good or evil. You also get bigger and better armor, making your character look even bigger. Also, if you level up your strength, you can carry larger weapons which at first your character will drag around as if he can barely wield them but soon enough they will be as light as a feather and your attacks will be faster as you plow through your enemies. There are also a lot of little things to do in the game including breaking and entering, buying houses and renting them out (or living in them), getting married, getting tattoos and different haircuts. You can fish, dig up treasure, find secret keys, etc., etc. Let me just list a few of the problems I saw in the game. One of them is that you are confined to paths and I am a huge fan of the open exploration, i.e. the GTA series and Morrowind. This is not happening here. The world consists mainly of paths and I was yearning for some open countryside. I had the same problem with Doom III although Fable is far from claustrophobic. The controls feel limited by the XBOX controller. They are decent enough to manage but a computer keyboard would definitely make this game better. Also, there were a few times I found myself targeting and accidentally attacking innocents due to the targeting setup. This is fine if you are evil but if you are trying to follow the path of righteousness... I wouldn’t say it’s the greatest role-playing game of all time but it is definitely close and I would put it in the top 3. It has some great ideas, some awesome ambitions. It just needed some more length to it. If you had taken elements from GTA and Morrowind, in my opinion, it would have been the greatest game of all time. As it is, it falls very close to the top.
