The press build up to the release of Fable was intense, to say the least. I read many of the pre-release articles and the interviews with the developers and can admit that I was swept up in the hype. After spending several hours wandering around the world of Fable I have to say that the game certainly does not live up to the hype. In a nutshell the graphics aren't all that great, the story isn't compelling or engrossing and the combat system - especially the spell casting element - is a bit clunky. I will stick with the game since I paid for it, and even though it might still offer a pleasant gaming experience, when judged against the hype, Fable can be judged harshly. To paraphrase, "There's nothing worse than a gamer who has been scorned."
