I had been waiting for this game. Pre-ordered the Limited Collectors Edition. The first Fable had me hooked. I had never played a game like it. There were so many awesome things to do. Fable 2 took what I loved away, but it was still a good game. Fable 2 was dumbed down compared to Fable 1. One example I really missed was being able to put points into skill to get thief skills. Then going into shops and stealing good stuff from the shelves. Fable 2 that was not an option at all. In Fable 3 they bring it back, but it again has the Fable 2 syndrome of being simplified. Something else that makes no sense is the expressions. That is one thing they did right in Fable 2, which they utterly screwed up in part 3 having only 2 real options of expressions. If you want to haggle for a discount at the store you have to threaten or dance a non straight dance with a male shop keeper. There are no menus. Along with their being no menus it means you have no clue what you have. The only way I have found to see what I have on me is to go to a pawnshop to try and sell it. Coupled with not knowing whats in your inventory, if you want to buy a specific item like a toy sword for your son you cant. You can only buy what is on the 2-8 store shelf pedestals. You have to buy it out in hope that when you come back the item you want will be in stock(in 3-4 game days). That makes sense. NOT! I just want 1 toy sword so I buy 3 flowers and 3 toy guns, but I can't even see them in my inventory to know if I even have them or not. There are only 3 types of potions. You can only carry one type of food on you at a time. The treasures you get from opening chests and digging are still unexciting and worthless. There is a lack of hairstyles and clothes. One other thing the really really bugs me is Lionhead Studios has decided it would be great to leave out some dye colors from the shelf, but they are going to sell it to us as DLC. That's really lame. I would think that if I paid money and pre-ordered their game it wouldn't be to much to ask for stuff that should be in the game. Their is seriously spots on your shelf for the missing dye colors...along with reports of a dye dlc pack. Thanks Lionhead, ya greedy brit fishsticks! On a good note, the pause menu sanctuary is a breath of fresh air. The combat is not as good as previous games, but it is more flashy. The weapon upgrades are better then a steel axe or master axe (wow) like part 2. What needs to happen is Lionhead needs to stop trying to be innovative, polish what they have, and listen to their users. It seems to be the case in lots of genres. The first game is amazing, the 2nd everyone buys because of the first games fame, but its not as good. The third we think they finally fixed it, and get our hopes up only to be crushed by a rushed utterly dumbed down pretty game.
To me this is actually a big step forward from the 2nd fable due to the fact that fable 2 seemed like going around doing cheesy quests and has a terrible plot/boss. Ok lets get down to business... The story is a lot bet... Read Full Review
Fable III is a positive step forward for Lionhead, and I applaud them. Many additions were made to Fable this time around; including Spell Combos and an innovative new start menu that is a 'level' in its own right. Comba... Read Full Review
