A prettier Fable 2 with some perks/bugs...
I'm trying to think of pro's and cons for this game, but i think it's better to just explain rather than list the things i found enjoyable and also found annoying.
My favorite thing about Fable 3 was the good vs evil options. I decided that my first playthrough was going to be the most evil toon i could make but i found my inner good trying to overcome during the playthrough, especially towards the end. this is what i wanted from Fable 3, a feeling of genuine concern for the people of Albion, and I got that.
I liked the weapons in this game but was unhappy with the limited selection of types of weapons. No axes? No crossbows? Pretty big miss there. The upgrading was a good thought but too tedious. The graphics on the weapons as they progress was lack luster and could have been more flamboyant.
The characters.... dull and forgettable... except Walter.
The dog comes back from fable 2 but its really buggy when looking for dig spots and doesn't seem to play much of a roll in the game (noticed after 1 playthrough and didnt ONCE ask myself "wheres my dog?").
The new map system is a nice touch but couldve been a little more detailed. I did like how i could buy/sell property in all the locations by just using the map.
The menu takes a spin from Assassin's Creed 2 and the mansion. It's a 3d room (the sanctuary) with additional rooms for weapons, clothing, etc. I enjoyed it but would have liked an option thru maybe some un-used buttons like LS and RS for quick swap of items.
My LEAST FAVORITE feature for fable 3... you guessed it, the interaction options between player and NPC. Instead of coming back with the fun, easy dial from Fable 2, they changed it into a preset of 1 nice, 1 evil, 1 funny emotion. The emotions themselves are of course funny but not being able to choose which to use at any time is a bummer. No more showing off trophies either since there is no renown in Fable 3.
Upgrading your characters stats in done thru the Road to Rule which I found to be pretty cool but also another tedious thing to keep track of. Instead of farming XP in fable 3, you're tasked to gain guild seals thru side quests, becoming friends with locals, or adding up kills to have the seal meter fill up.
My recommendation to anyone who has finished fable 2, find a friend who has F3 and borrow it for a weekend and then maybe pick it up after the holidays for a discounted price.
My recommendation to anyone who hasn't played a fable game yet, its a must have.
Hope you enjoyed reading. if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. THANKS
