Wow, so disappointing. Fable III is a lost soul - big step backwards for Lionhead...

Like many I was looking forward to this title. I had it pre-ordered, thinking that the videos released beforehand + interview material looked really promising. Anyone ever fallen for that before?!

Fable III is an erratic game full of visual glitches and in my opinion does not represent anything new or innovative in gaming - let alone anything interesting enough to captivate me for hours. I gave up on this game after three sessions. Briefly, here's why:

- Buggy visuals. Constant clipping and popping. The environments were nice, but the character/NPC animations were ordinary. In fact I reckon Fable II had better visuals all round.

- The combat system has NOT been enhanced Lionhead! Melee and ranged combat is the same but you don't have to work to advance your abilities by gaining XP. It is so dumbed down as to be unforgivable. There are no challenges and no feeling of achievement.

- Yes, yes, the Sanctuary is a nice idea, but it doesn't improve the game over Fable II. Give me a menu list/inventory any day, any game. I don't want context driven drivel, want choice and customisation.

- Bring back the expression wheel! Interacting with the people of Albion was interesting, fun and worthwhile in Fable II. In III it's like you're a polititian having to shake everyone's hand. The Road to Rule and Guild Seals are gimicks.

- Questing is horrible in this game. Do jobs A, B, C and you get a few Seals. And this is after snoring through several (there are MANY) load screens. The map areas of Albion have been reduced to children's playpens! Just ridiculous.

I would strongly advise against buying this game if you loved Fable and Fable II. It doesn't compare. Peter Molineaux is a dunce.
