Well another fable or story has come around...but how will you play...evil overlord or the hero of all ages?
With that out of the way i feel it is time to move onto the review part of this review. Fable III is set after the events of Fable II The game is set on the fictional continent of Albion, which is entering the age of industry. The King, the hero/player character of Fable II, has died and left the Kingdom of Albion to his son. Now this son as you may well be shocked to know is not you...Nope it is your older brother Logan who is in charge and you play as either the younger brother or sister. As you may well be able to tell his first four years have been differant as people wisper that Logan is changing and not for the better.
You start off the game investigating rumours that Logan had a citizen of Albion executed, causing a group of citizens to protest. After the player character intervenes, Logan presents the player with the first of the game's numerous moral choices. The player is tasked with deciding whether the group of protesters are executed, or whether the player's love-interest is executed instead. This infact has an impact on the game...not so much in the story or the gameplay but rather in how on a quest latter on you can meet up again with your love-interest...but it depends on that very first choice you make. Anyway back to the story...After making that choice the player with help from his mentor Sir Walter Beck and his butler Jasper make there escape from the castle and set about forming the base for a revolution against Logan.
At this point in time the player does not know why and for what reason Logan had changed but as you get deeper into the game you soon see that on some levels logan was right. He not only was trying to do the best he could to save the kingdom but also to save the world from the forces of the Darkness. So when you finaly do become king or queen of Albion the player has two choices but realy its three.
You have from the day you become king/queen one year to save up the gold and build up your kingdom at the same time. The amount of gold you need is 6,500,000. Most of the time you will get asked questions...like do you want to keep taxes the same..This gives you the same amount of gold you would normaly get...Or you could cut taxes which takes funds out of the kingdom or you can put taxes up which will give you more gold to put into the pot. There will also be quests you can do which at the end gives the player the choice of either bagging the loot/gold for themselfs or using it to help fund the 6,500,000 gold needed to save everyone.
Not only that but your choices will also effect who you are if your a kind king or Queen then that will reflect on how the people view you but if you are cruel like your brother then the people will start saying things like your no better than he was. Now as i said there are three ways of getting the gold you need...The last way and by far the best is to put your own gold into the kingdoms funds....Now i can see you sitting there and saying to your self well how is the player on his own ment to get that much gold...Its simple...Once you unlock the right perk you can start to buy house's and rent them out (the rent will also have an effect on how the people view you). Then as the game moves on your able to buy up shops as well. So that buy the time you become king/queen and the time you are king/queen you should have a very healthy amount of gold coming in. Its up to the player to make the choice of being greedy and letting alot of people die in an attack or putting the gold where it is needed and help save the people from there doom.
Fable III came out for the 360 in north america on October 26, 2010 australia on October 26, 2010 and in europe on October 29, 2010.
This may not be the perfect game...it may not even be a great game...heck it might not even be the best game at what it does but what it is on the whole is fun and in ways differant. You can see that deep down like in the past Fable games there is something there that could make it better but its hidden away. Well worth a try now as it should be at a great price if you shop around.
