If you love mmo's that are sandbox and run by the players themselves, this is it.
Gameplay: its the 24th century and there are many colonies on planets other than earth. Fighting for control and domination of these colonies are 8 factions each specialising in their own areas. you have the Global Dominion whos 2 factions or the Law enforcement division (LED) and the federal defense corp (FDC) these 2 factions work under the global dominion government to keep order on earth and its colonies.
There are 3 corporation factions, EuroCore (EC) Vortex Incorporated (VI) and Colonization and Mining Guild (CMG). These corporations have 2 things in mind and that is too be the most powerful and the most wealthy and they will do that by peace and diplomacy, controling the markets, or taking the colonies by force.
Lastly there are 3 normal factions:Brotherhood of the shadow (BoS) they are a criminal organization that maked illegal drugs and sells them to various buyers. Mercenaries of the Blood (MotB) they are like their name says:Mercenaries, they can be hired by any faction or any player through the use of a contract system for various purposes (most mainly is that of eliminating a target or a certain amount of a factions members). Lastly there is Guardians of Mankind (GoM) they are more of a friendly faction that is more geared toward politics but they are still fearsome fighters incase they ever need to defend themselves.
Now after all that I hope your brain is not too scrambled cause there's more.FoM is completly player driven, everything from factions, wars, colonies and even a fairly complex player driven government. Anybody can make a name for themselves doing what ever they please. Maybe you would like to be a politician? you can become create your own political party and try and be a representative for a colony, who knows you might create the most dominant political party in the senate.
Are you one of those who like me thinks the quote "the pen is mightier than the sword" is an absolute lie then FoM has a good combat system. The combat system has been re-done in this new release of FoM and there is still some balancing issues but i think it is a very good system. Work your way up the ranks in your faction whether you might want to be an FDC soldier fighting for earth, or a ruthless mercenary who doesn't really care who he has to kill as long as he gets his money FoM will cater to your needs.
Still not the type of person who prefers guns or long debates but would rather manufacture and make some money? Not a problem, the economy is like all thing player driven, the only items that are not player made are the starting clothes you pick when you first try the game. The economy is pretty deep with taxes that go towards the faction that controls the colony you sell your goods on while also giving you some nice cash.Mining, producing, and manufacturing is easy to learn and will literally run itself long as you stay on the colony you are mining or producing on.
Now im sure your brain may be mush by now but the hard stuff is over, the great part is i barely scratched the surface of what you can do in this game.
Graphics: graphics are actually pretty good with all the different armor, the colonies look nice and each has its own distinctive feel to them. Some of the weapons have the same model just different color but you wont really care about that to be honest just as long as you can kill efficently!
Audio: Theres some highly annoying music that can be turned off easily, each gun and explosive has its own distinctive sound and its pretty good, not much else to talk about in terms of audio.
its 100% free and there are no levels or skills at all. There is XP but you only need to worry about getting the first 5k (to get full faction privs. don't worry easier to get then you think) and a 100k pp if you ever want to run for faction leader.
Well now that your brain is pretty much fried and your bout ready to go get some advil, when you get back and re-collect your thoughts try this game out its worth it and will suck you in for a long time thanks to the great community.
