Fallout 3 is good , but sometimes it is bad

Welcome to the capital wastelands a truly barren place. Fallout 3 is not the kind of game that realizes on story; it is more like one of those games that make you say to your friend "hey look what I can do." Fallout 3 has a 3 at the end but you don't need to have played the first two games at all, because this game is 100 percent difrent than the others. Fallout 3 is first person open world RPG by Bethesda Soft Works that slaps you right in the face with choice and replay value. You're placed in the shoes of a child (daughter or son) whose father escapes the vault that you call home in the dead of night. So that is where the story begins. Once you leave the vault to find your father you are dumped into a nuclear bomb ravaged place called the capital wasteland. In this waste land you will find lots to do but not much character. The people who you come across on your travels are not interesting and it creates a feeling of why should I care about this person. It almost makes you want to just shoot them in the head and steal all their caps, instead of listen to what they have to say. Also the story is very dark, takes 20 hours to complete, and could use major comic relief because finding out why your dad left in the dead of night isn't the perkiest of stories' and maybe the dark story choice was just to show that the world is in a dark place right now. A lighter story would also bring more immersive experience.
You will spend most of your time in Fallout 3 putting lead in people, while there is a bunch of guns and melee weapons in Fallout 3 aiming with them is very hard because the guns do not have sights. When you press L1 to go to the sight, nothing happens at all because none of the guns except the sniper rifle and scoped magnum have sights that you can look down to see your target better. This makes shooting in Fallout 3 feel very fake. If the guns had the sights then game play would revolve more around shooting on your own rather than using V.A.T.S. V.A.T.S is one of the major highlights of Fallout 3, V.A.T.S is a graphic system in which you use your Action points to stop time and selected witch part of the enemy you want to shoot. Once you select a part a super slow motion contextualized cut scene takes places V.A.T.S adds a very strategic element to Fallout 3 because you can break a enemies gun, cripple their legs, cripple their arms so they can not shoot that well, or blow their head, legs, and arms off in a very unrealistic manner. Be prepared for some pretty graphic stuff when using V.A.T.S though because body parts go all over the place. V.A.T.S can perk up the boring gun game but it would be nice to play the game without using it as a crutch.

The graphics in Fallout 3 are subpar for 2008 and strange for me because I am not a gamer who thinks graphics make a game great. The land graphics and character models look dull and that might have to do with the fact that the game is so large. Some times when you kill someone a big black square might pop up around their body. The squares can be really annoying because if you go near them your game freaks out. But, the biggest technical problem with fallout 3 is the glitches. Right when I fired the game up just the other day to examine it for the last time, I fell through the games geometry. This wasn't a major problem because I fell 2 minutes from my last save. This is one of the big glitches but a few times I had a problem that when I killed an enemy they fell into the game, so I couldn't loot them. Other glitches can be very funny and cheap. If you go in circles around some of the games enemies they will be confused so you can just punch them to death other funny glitches include friendly NPC's going crazy for no reason and shooting up the place. Game breaking freeze bugs happen far too often in Fallout 3 and are not even addressed in the patched versions. If graphics and graphical glitches don't bring you down Fallout 3 still provides joy.
Oh the places you will go and the replay value you will experience. Exploration in Fallout 3 is great there is lots to kill, see, loot, and destroy. There are roughly 150 unique locations to go to in Fallout 3, some of them look the same but others are stranger than the rest. Down town Washington D.C. has the most interesting land marks of all. Even though it is dull with character the D.C ruins bring a feeling of that could have happened. That mystery alternate history brings about the drive to explore every location, and what is a location without lots of badies. Every place you go has a conflict whether it is mercs, raider, giant fire breathing ants, ghouls, or a super mutant a feeling of an enemy presents is all around. Always bring a hunting rifle to any fight as we say in Fallout 3. All of the loot, respawning enemies, and the number of places to go really give Fallout 3 a gargantuan replay value. This is big plus to this game because of the number of just random things you can do and kill. Replay value is scarce in a single player because of game makers putting two feet forward for muitiplayer, making the replay value so nice to see.
Fallout 3 can seem broken at times and dull at times, but it can also be a blast to play. I gave this game a bunch of negative comments because that's how a truly feel, Fallout 3 is just one of those games you have to just play for yourself to see if you like it. I like Fallout 3 but I also see what is wrong with it. I give Fallout 3 a 6.5 out of 10 because of its dull people, non immersive story, lack of gun slights, glitches, great replay value, lots of locations and enemies, and great slow motion kills with V.A.T.S. The things that could have made Fallout 3 perfect 10 out of 10 are more original polishing, sights, an immersive comical story, and some more life in the wastes. It seems the bad outweighs the good but it doesn't in the end. I had lots of fun playing Fallout 3 maybe because I like freedom of choice, but the only way to judge this game is to buy it for yourself, but if you are a gamer who cares about the technical stuff then this game is not a buy for you. Right now Fallout 3 is on Amazon new for 11 bucks, pick it up, try it, and don't forget to blast some guys in the head because it is Fallout 3.
