It Could Have Been So Much Better...
And it had Aliens.
HOW Could they screw up so much?
Yes, the game is still fun, and the new guns you get are fun to use, but come on, seriously.
The exploration is very constricted, the fact that after completing the missions you CANT explore anymore, thats just somewhat stupid.
I mean sure Opperation Anchorage did it, so did Broken Steel, but at least they didn't tease you by still letting you go to the places!
The Gunfights in Fallout 3 ARE fun, but it gets somewhat boring if its used too much. And Thats exactly What Mothership Zeta does.
That, and the fact that the number of aliens attacking you is just absurd.
None, And I mean NONE of the other expansions had such a large amount of enemies attack you at once.
Sure Point Lookout had that mansion sequence where those religious nut cases attack in groups, but those were simple, easy to kill people.
Not Aliens with Shocky Sticks and some sort of force field that makes them Tough as super Mutant Overlords!
Seriously it is NOT fun when you're swarmed by 5 or more glowy aliens. Its just a clusterfu$% of confusion and frustration.
The Story is REALLY uninteresting, I usualy love hearing about the NPC's hearing their backstory, where they came from, what are their Morals. But not this time. Mothership Zeta just OOZES with steriotypes.
The Black Chick is an arrogant Slaver. Uninteresting.
The Blond Anchorage Guy is a Wuss. Uninteresting.
The Cowboy Is a vengeful douche. Uninteresting.
And Toshiro Kago Is...a Japanese Samurai. I dont even know.
The Japanese guy was most interesting, the other characters I couldnt even remember the names of.
All the characters are very uninteresting, and the only one that proves of any use is the Wimpy Anchorage guy, who can turn Alien Biogel into a super stimpack, and at the end give you weapons for free. And The Little Girl Who at the end can give you free stuff like that repair gel.
The Slaver And Cowboy dissapear after the end, so there's no point in keeping them around, just off them and take their stuff.
Also A Very disapointing thing is the Space Walk Sequence...really? Bethesda, you couldn't even add in a gravity effect? Seriously? That was just simple disapointing, sure they added an interesting death sequence for the space part, but I would have really liked a floaty controls feeling or a kinda floaty jump while on the space walk part.
Fail.
Another Thing that Bugs me is that bright yellow glow on the planet. Seriously what in the world is that? Bethesda! Explain!!!
The thing that disapointed me THE ABSOLUTE MOST is the fact that, for firing the alien death ray at the eath, you do NOT get any conciquences, none, you just shoot the beam, big boom on one of the planets parts, and you dont get nothing, not any changes in the wasteland, not any "What was that big shockwave" from the NPC, not even negative Karma! Seriously!!!
Now at first, I thought the ending was gonna be quite interesting, you get to fight A GIANT ALIEN SHIP....buuut even thats completely boring. All you do is press one button to put up shiels, let them fire at you, then press another button for a super powerful death ray, fire, and then put up the shields again, repeat.
In Short, you CAN have fun with Mothership Zeta. But Don't Expect it to be another Point Lookout Or Broken Steel.
