New Vegas = fallout 4 + fallout 5 in 1 game. Rich decision/morality matrix, Factions, shooter RPG action --- easy GOTY.

So firstly, if you like shooters and RPG, then whats not to like? You literally have the content you would expect in 3-5 good RPG games all packed in to one title.

Then we have quality, which is outstanding. I was quite surprised and dissapointed with the Gamespot opinion that "the main storyline was dissapointing".

I personally think that RPGs that contain factions are fantastic. Ceciding the outcomes of all the factions in this title was some of the best faction work that I have ever seen in a RPG title, far better than that of the gothic series which did it quite successfully.

Perhaps the game was just so large that it was more RPG than gamespot could handle. I dont see how the storyline was worse than other games rated 9.5

There was a rich decision making matrix that gave you complete freedom to influence the entire world in the game in almost any way you saw fit. Factions could be destroyed or strengthened.

Perhaps this lower than expected rating is because you expect a game with complete freedom to be perfect, and any such glitch in a world with COMPLETE FREEDOM should be negatively scored?

...Are we forgetting that most games will give you about 10% of the freedom you have in this game therefore its easy to make sure its bug free.

Very dissapointed gamespot. 9.5/10 game fo sho
