8.3 (but it won't let me) Its Vegas Baby... hard hitting and dirty fun. In the Nuclear Fallout Western US.
On the topic of plot... well firstly the plot choices in the this game aren't crystal clear as to which outcome is "good" or "evil" per say. Some choices yes but others require you to may choices between two groups with either misguided or good intentions. Making the plot somewhat masterful in getting a reaction from even the most callous gamer. The game does include elements within the plot that may also cause tough decisions in skilling toward certain areas especially considering the new systems in play for hacking terminals and speech checks and miscellaneous skill checks so yes no more save before a speech check then reload if you fail. Creating a player made choice to see what options may surmise if they skill towards speech or medicine or whatever. Now if your a fallout 3 player you may think well bobbleheads and skill books won't make that too hard... well this time around those items with major skill/attribute bonuses are rare or cost significant funds and are limited. Although temporary skill raisers have been added since Fallout 3. (you'll see what I mean) making skilling more directive opposed to previous models.
Now it being Vegas the caps flow like a river, what I mean is high condition items are pricey which works positively for players who leave no container unchecked and creates a poor wastrel, fruggle player to those looking to breeze through the game. On this topic even more-so now in New Vegas scrounging for goods in the waste is harder which different types of enemies and the new armor system in play making certain weapons useless in scenarios and varying tactics for each enemy it becomes difficult to have a surplus of goods and always effective in combat in this game. Bringing the desperate feel to the game more to life.
Now the game is typical of RPGs with the Bethesda sticker on it... meaning the amount of extras missions outside the main is spectacular. Exceeding even Fallout 3 there is no way anyone single person can even find them all without a guide or wikia. Which is quiet impressive in itself. As well as hidden fun and funny aspects cleverly disguised and comically installed within the game. Even a few rewarding flashbacks for followers of the dynasty of Fallout and other Bethesda games allowing to experience the triumphs of previous Fallouts even in the environment or remember troubling caverns (cough oblivion)
Finally hardcore mode for those hardcore RPG players... this is extremely intensive play and extra challenging for those who seem to want it... an amazing addition to the gameplay and something that really finishes the experience of hopelessness in the face of player's hard feats ahead. a Masterpiece on the environment and attitude of the series and the post-apocalypse.
NOW for the negative... yes there are glitches and extreme amount on release for consoles mostly. Now this isn't to negative to the game and any real reviewer who knows the companies creating this game knows it ... since patches were released even for Oblivion and Fallout 3 nearly 1.5 years after release. This Bethesda always does great repair on their glitches and wonderful expansions which add elements for possible future games ... as broken steel DLC downloaders have explicitly seen in New Vegas with the return of somethings from Broken Steel DLC.
Now for the major problems... the terrain in vast empty regions of land is horrid compared to previous models in the creators history like they half-(bad worded) it so to speak. Companion AI is stupider than sin and disobeys some orders or entirely disappears at times. Although on the positive in non-hardcore they don't die ... for their actions.... However they use items you give them at free will and non-intelligently which hasn't changed even dis-improved and they won't use certain items *cough (Spoiler of name) Cass ... won't switch off Caravan shotguns.
Finally the reason why this game lacks the a score greater for me at least then Fallout 3.... this game lacks major improvement ... it feels so much like a enormous Expands from its preceding events games... No in gameplay but in graphics and lamely enough controls/menus. I mean yes the gameplay is entirely on a different level of enjoyment from dialogue and politics (which there is way more of then previously) then before. But the AI and the graphics are actually worse so much so. As if a single color is dominate throughout the game but alters its shading every so often. All in all if you like RPGs in any sense you should buy this game ... its action packed and never dull.
