Ulysess has extended his offer...should you take up the challenge?

User Rating: 8 | Fallout: New Vegas - Lonesome Road PC
Lonesome Road is the fourth and final expansion to Fallout New Vegas, and it doesn't disapoint. It flourishes on the basic elements of NV, and makes an interesting, and slightly confusing expansion out of it.

PROS: Lets be honest: Most people who want to buy this are interested in Ulysses' back story. Without giving anything away, it is interesting, and pieced together nicely. The gameplay is not for weaker characters, the enemies were quite hard to beat, even though I was a lv.35 character in Enclave power armor to start off the pack. The weapons in Lonesome Road are interesting, but sadly, scattered of variety. The shoulder mounted machine-gun will let you tear your enemies apart fairly easily, Red Glare is a decent alternative to a missile launcher, and the arc-welder will shoot lightning beams at your foes. There are a few more less significant weapons, but for the most part, thats pretty much it. The Lonesome Road looks great and the gameplay is quite entertaining, and clocks in at a reasonable 5-8 hours.

CONS: Sadly, as mentioned before, this expansion is not for people who haven't invested their full time to NV. The expansion is sometimes quite frustrating, with the pip boy being slow to open after hitting tab, leaving you with some cheap deaths. Some encounters you will have to load over and over again because some idiot ran around the corner and you missed 4 VATS point blank shots. Also, the only things you will be fighting is a weird variation of ghouls, some deathclaws, and new monsters called tunnelers, who can kill deathclaws pretty easily, if that tells you anything. Another frustrating elemt they added was the satchel charge, basically a mine that blows up 3 times as fast and does 5 times the damage. Whenever I encountered them, I always felt cheated, that I had no chance of escape. Lonesome Road also lives up to its name, you will only be talking to 2 characters for the entire time. Not to be forgotten, the storyline is really the only thing to do in this expansion, except blow up stray warheads, so don't expect any side quests or anything.

Overall, if you have invested your time into NV, and maybe a few expansions before this, this expansion is definitely worth your time. If you casually played NV and were bored with it, and were hoping for something fresh to spend your time on, this expansion is not for you.
