Although the plot gets boring at times the graphics and African countryside are genuine and immersive

Playing Far Cry 2 is a wonderful experience of African countryside and nature. The AI is excellent. The only thing that becomes a bore is that the missions are very much stereotyped,and vary very little in the objectives. You very quickly develop your own method of countering the sudden appearances of armed jeeps and guard posts. The variety of weapons that become available overwhelms the player insofar that fairly early in the game you develop your own modus operandi and end up using about 3 or 4 of the weapons. Personally I used the sniper rifle and an LMG along with mines. This carried me through most situations. The explosive results are fantastic and the effect of a fire fight really superb. One drawback is that the enemy seem to have a distinct advantage over the player by being able to locate you quicker than you can them. A difficulty I experienced was in locating where the firing was coming from, even though red line indications were there to assist.
The graphics are some of the finest really portray the African countryside as it is.
I can recommend it as an immersive and enjoyable game but as other reviewers have said, the plot lacks depth
