A great game but sadly very very repetitive after a while.
Story- The story to Far Cry 2 is really cool there are a bunch of stories you can experience simply because the game has it were you pick a character to play as and there is up to 6 characters to choose from, this makes the game have alot of replay ability but sadly since it is so repetitive its hard to just get through your first playthrough. The story is about you a mercanier tracking down a man by the name of "the jackal" and throughtout most of the game its you Vs him.
Gameplay- Far Cry 2 has a huge world, I mean huge and the first map your on is not the only map, there is another map after the first map so its even bigger then what you think it is. For a FPS this is great I mean its not an RPG like Fallout 3 or oblivion its a straight up shooter through and through and I wish more FPS did this sort of thing however as big as the world is in Far Cry 2 it is very repetitve simply because of no fast travel. Now I do not mean I want fast travel in the sense where I can automaticly go everywhere but in the sense like Fallout 3, once you've discoverd a location you can fast travel back to that set location anytime you want. Far Cry has it where alot of time you will do a mission complete that mission go pick up another mission and you have to go back to that location you wre just at. Its not like it takes only 2 mins to get to a location, it could take a whole 10-20mins because its that huge Far Cry. Now the game does offer a form of fast travel involving a transport service via bus, however this does not help since the bus stops always seem to be far away from anything important and you will still have a 10min travel time to get to your set location. Now for the gunplay, its pretty soild I mean its not the best gun mechanics ive seen but they are not too bad, I do wish there were more weapons in the game tho like there are alot but you cant get them until you find them and its the whole "you find it you keep it" thing back from the PS1 days of gaming.
Graphics- okay I do not want to tred on this as long as the gameplay so let me just say Far Cry 2 is amazing looking, I mean if you honestly think this game looks bad then you need to get your eyes checked out because this game is gorgeous. The visuals are great the gun effects are supureb, I cant really think how this game could have looked any better.
Bottom line I would say Far Cry 2 is a great game to own, you will probably spend a good 20+ hours into it and you can probably find it for $20 in your local Ebgames/Gamestop no problem.You can rent it if you want just incase it bores the poop out of you but the online is pretty fun if that counts for anything -__-.
