If you manage to ignore its repetitive gameplay and Far Cry 1 fanboys, you get an amazing game.

First off, I would like to let you know that I have completed Far Cry 1, an amazing game and had it's fame. Far Cry 2 has nothing linked or related on a larger scale to Far Cry 1.

This game lets you free roam and do missions, like in Fallout for example. Except Fallout is more paced due to the fact that its world is alive. But this game is all about realism it seems, it's a plunder that it fails exactly at that point.

Far Cry 2 still is not a game that can be hated blindly. The fan votes does not do justice, this deserves at least a 8/10 because of it's fun open world elements and also the stylish visuals (for its age) and physics. This game and its mission choices amazes me.

Positives:

Open world = 5
Gameplay mechanics = +1
Visuals = +1
Ambient/Settings = +1
Missions = +0.5
Gunplay = +0.5

Negatives:

No proper GPS system = -1
Repetitiveness = -1

Verdict:

Must buy for Fallout fans, open world games fans.
