Farcry 4 is the most frustrating game I've played in years. Not because of the difficulty, the controls, or any other conventional issue someone might find with a game, but because I've never wanted to love a game so much while absolutely hating it.
Farcry 4 is beautiful. It's fun, it truly gives you the reigns and lets you completely carve out your own story, and make your own decisions. Unfortunately for every moment I found myself in awe of how massive, and exhilarating Kyrat was, there were ten moments where I wanted to turn the game off and toss it in the trash.
Spending 10 minutes painstakingly picking off every guard in an outpost, only to find that a glitch prevented me from completing the mission, forcing me to kill myself and start again. Killing a full grown Rhino in significantly less shots than it takes to kill a normal person later on in the game (because Farcry 4 uses the age old terrible difficulty spike where regular enemies suddenly take twice as many shots to kill for no discernible reason) or sliding around as if I'm on a slope when I'm on solid ground which renders me unable to fire any weapons I have. Farcry 4 has too many glitches and bugs to count.
Aside from game ruining bugs Farcry 4 also has potentially the weakest, most nonsensical story ever. A man wants to return to his native land to pour out his mother's ashes, and instead is manipulated by LITERALLY EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY to do their dirty work for them. A group of guerilla freedom fighters called "The Golden Path" who have seemingly endless numbers but don't have the man power to lend you even one troop as you escape from prisons, single-handedly take on entire fortresses full of troops, and race from one side of the country to the other to do menial tasks that apparently no one else is able to accomplish.
I understand that it's a video game, and the solo protagonist cliche is used a LOT, but this is just ridiculous.
Farcry 4 SHOULD be the most fun you'll have playing a game in years, but I assure you it won't be.
