Amazing action game for the Xbox! Any fan of first person shooters must play this game!
Gameplay: The control and physics of the game are good and using one of the many weapons available in the game feels good. An added element to the game is the Predator mode, which enables the main character to use animalistic attacks and abilities to survive. This is new on the Xbox version and it adds even more thrills to an already action packed game.
Graphics: Far Cry Instincts looks amazing on the Xbox and you can tell they reallly pushed the console specs to the limit. I only noticed a slight slowdown in the more congested areas but everything else looked great and moved smoothly. The lush tropical island the story is set on looks great and it makes one want to take a trip down to the Caribbean (minus the mercenaries trying to kill you, of course).
Sound: The sound for Far Cry Instincts adds to the gameplay, with background music changing when different areas are reached. Another nice touch is the sounds your character makes when changing into Predator mode. Growling sounds, as well as labored breathing give one the sense of animalistic fury and power.
Mulitplayer: Many of the standard multiplayer modes are available, like deathmatch, but a nice add on is the ability to create your own maps with a very user friendly map editor. Hopefully more developers in the future will start adding this feature to their games
Replayability: Other than a solid single player campaign and somewhat standard multiplayer fare, Far Cry Instincts doesn't offer much as far as unlockables or new mini games. However, the overall quality of the game still makes it worth playing more than once.
Overall, Far Cry Instincts is a great game and I would highly recommend it as a purchase, unless you've just picked up an Xbox 360, which in that case, I would wait for the 360 version because it not only has an enhanced version of Instincts but also will include a new expansion. But if you're like the rest of us who either can't find a 360 yet (like me), getting Far Cry for the original Xbox is a solid purchase.
