First off...BEAUTIFUL game, it had a lot of the aspects (video wise) that the computer game had, except for the clipping plane, which means that you can be looking farther out in the distance and you wont see grass anymore, so therefore if your enemy is laying down in thick grass...from your POV hes actually laying down on a green plane. I mostly studied the whole multiplayer part of this game, concidering the fact that I played the single player on CPU (i know they changed some things, give me a break) and the story line was a complete flop. It had what would be a good story, with a side of things that you would put into a B movie. I'm not going to be like all those other critics and compare this game to Halo's majesty, so take that thought completely out of your mind, because I hate when people close their minds to such a simple single part of a picture.
Now I will get on to the bigger complex part of the picture. The multiplayer was very good. It had a lot of the parts of multiplayer that I like, with the different weapons, to the vehicles, and most of all, STEALTH factor. I love the realism of hiding in patches of grass, or bushes and popping out just to slice someone from behind, or to pop up with a boomstick and let loose some free weight out of your pole of might on an enemies face. But they could've made it a bit better by making the reticule not turn red when you just pan over the environment to find someone. For example, I was hiding in one part of a map, in my cozy little bush, and my enemy was looking for me. All he did was just start moving his reticule to random places, then all of he sudden, a big red circle showed up, showing where I was hiding, and it even let him know my name. Why stop there? Why not just go ahead and add every part of that persons information along with it? *Oh my gosh! My crimson circle of godliness has just shown (enter your name here) and I have now learned that he is still living in his parents basement!* (if thats not all of us out there).
Moving ahead, I liked all of the vehicles the game let you have. There was a wide array of things that you could use as an arsenal of mayhem on wheels, or on water. So they conquered two parts of the video gaming world, but dare I ask where the sky went? Would it be tha hard to add a helicopter or something into this little bundle? Probably, yes, because the worlds, even though they were very large, just arent large enough for such a thing. But, I didn't mind that fact too much. They were a little hard to manuever because you were still in First Person View, so you could turn, and still shoot while driving. So there was a bit of oblivious driving, since you are turing to shoot an enemy, and then you turn back to find yourself flying off a cliff.
Now to get to the part of the different ways to kill people. There was an arsenal of weapons you could have at your fingertips. With each having their own specialties and strengths, as well as weaknesses. One problem I had with them was that the aiming was so simple. You had such a HUGE redicule on every weapon (unless you zoomed in with a selct few), and no matter how far away you were, your bullets would always shoot in pretty much the same spot, unless of course you use a noob cannon (aka "Shotgun"). I noticed that I could be on one side of the map, bring out my rifle, shoot a few barrages, and almost every single bullit would hit in the same spot, regardless of the distance I put in between me and my target. But the weapons stayed pretty stable and they each had their own feel, so I try to just push that little bit out of my mind.
Along with the death power that you could launch at somebody, it had a great extra aspect to the multiplayer massacres. You could be traveling through the map and then stumble across a little green vial, which you would soon find, turns you into steroid pumped, crack filled, Mike Tyson (if that hasn't already been explored). Right after you hear a cackle of "Preditor", you already know that you're into the ride of your 2 minute lifespan. First off I noticed the speed, it is almost impossible to keep up with the preditors, both aiming and running. Also, the strength in every aspect of the person is pretty much tripled of not more(I don't know how to say it in the sense of 5, shoot me). But you can run faster, jump higher and pretty much kill anyone with one hit of the B button. So you're pretty much the million dollar man, minus the million dollars. It also gives you a different vision style, so when you run faster, you see your peripheral vision shift, while you move fast, which was a very nice touch if I should say so. It also gives you a sense of smell, but only using the vision sense for it. You can see the trace of somebody, and see an aura of them, which would be their smell. So you can find people a lot easier also.
Although I should have went across the bridge of Multiplayer, and played a bit more of the single player, I unfortunately didnt. I liked a lot of the aspects of this game, and disliked some of the things that should've worked on a bit. With all of this, I can only see this game as something that they should have left with the CPU, and not tried to save Crytech by moving to another platform. I had a lot of mixed reactions with this game, as you can see under the classification thingy, but all in all, I will give it a 7.1. Not too good, not too bad.
