Definitely in second place on my rating list of awesome games!
1. While all three of the games focus chiefly on some sort of ritual as being the source of most of the ghosts in that area, I'd have to say that said ritual of The Tormented caught my eye better than the ones in Crimson Butterfly and the original Fatal Frame.
2.The third installment didn't only allude to the first two, but in some way managed to bring them into the story completely; the first by having Miku as a playable character and letting her wander Himuro Manor temporarily, and the second by having Mio as one of the Tattoo's victims, with her uncle trying to save her, and eventually wandering into All God's Village and learning at least somewhat of the reason Mayu is missing.
Really, I don't have any major complaints about the game, but I few miniscule little problems. For starters, the Kusabi was a major PAIN IN THE ASS to beat just in normal mode. I haven't gotten far enough yet in hard mode to fight him, but somehow I doubt I'll be able to pull it off. Secondly, Kei is practically USELESS when you first begin playing as him. Though I've got to say his hiding ability is pretty useful when you want to avoid Reika. At first I was pissed about Miku not being able to use any power up lenses, but I calmed down once I got her amulet, which has become much more useful now on my second playthrough since I'm going through hard mode now. And, just like I've stated in my Crimson Butterfly review, I can't beat the damn missions! Which is fine, I guess, since I don't care too much about the unlockable beating the missions gives you. Another thing I loved; Reika actually lives up to her title of 'Final Boss'. To be honest, I didn't have too much trouble beatiing Kirie, the Rope Man, or even Sae in the first two, but I openly admit it took me about 7 or 8 tries to defeat Reika.
