A very good old school survival horror almost a master piece like the rest of the saga
Better graphics and a change of the camera that suits well but sometimes is not all that good.
I will start with the good points of the game
The music: WOW just WOW, they are master pieces, all of them, they are just a few games like this one that have such of amazing set of music (this one shnemue 1/2 and silent hill sage for me.) No other game equals this ones.
Far from perfection!
I mean you just can listen to the song alone for hours they are so relaxing and sad at the same time.
The voice acting is really good too and the story is told in the same way that the others fatal frame are, in chapters and through different characters that have things in common.
Most of the story is for you to find it out through out books, notebooks, notes etc etc
The graphics are very well done, the wii really shines in this a 9/10
The game is long enough and very scary too like you would expect in the Fatal Frame series.
Now lets see the bad..
Is sad to point that the only bad thing about this game is not a proper defect of the game itself instead is a defect about the console and the freaking wii -.-
Yeah the controls are bad, I remember playing the fatal frames in my ps2 and xbox and they were just perfect but now with the Nunchuk and Wii mote they suck so much I just hate them, they are inaccurate and clunky.
When you move is kinda ok, but when you have to fight is really bad, they even put a button to follow the ghosts because of the problem, this dumbed down the difficult a lot!
I mean the combat was about you moving the camera following the ghost and shot it in the perfect time but now all you do is hold a button and just shot when you have to why?because the controls of the Wii suck so much!-.-
When you use Chōshirō (the male character) you use a flashlight not a camera but you can use the button but they use another tricky way of dumb down the difficult and the bad controls, when you shot your flashlight you currently shot the entire screen...so you hit or you hit yup thats is lame!
Its sad that the game is only available on the wii and the game is designed for this console because the only bad point of the game are the controls.
this game deserves a 10/10 but I cannot give that score with this flaws in something very important like the controls.
It really piss me off because the only bad thing of the FF was the male character they always suck in the past, they run like the female character they were slow as hell, now Chōshirō moves like a man really he is fast! And he dont walk like a gentile woman like the rest of the character in the past fatal frames, but they fix something and they ruin the controls of the game :(
You think thats it?Well is not...the game was never released world wide, it never leave japan. So Nintendo bought the license of the game but they refuse releasing it outside japan, really nice huh?
So they give a **** about the players and they ruin the game controls. Nintendo you suck very much =)
Luckily a team of developers(real fans!) made and released a patch so you can play the game entirely in English.
A Tecmo spokesperson gave IGN the following statement:
"Nintendo holds the publishing rights to 'Fatal Frame Wii,' which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008. Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory. As the owner of the IP, Tecmo feels very unfortunate that the fans of the series in North America will not have a chance to play the game, but respects the final decision made by Nintendo of America."
Nintendo **** You!
