Now, I suppose having gone into the game with absolutely NO expectations because I was so disappointed with the first game in the series, I was setting myself up to be at least a little bit satisfied. Well, let's just say I was more satisfied than I thought I would be. I will admit there is nothing that makes F.E.A.R. 2 'revolutionary;' it's basically Condemned mixed with the bullet-time of Max Payne with the occasional Mech level, but at the same time it's not really trying too hard to be anything else... and the number of unexpected scripted events definitely kept me interested in the story. The A.I. isn't ingenious, but smart enough to hold its own, which is just fine. Like I said before, the atmosphere is very 'Condemned' with a pinch of 'Doom 3,' which was right up my alley.
F.E.A.R. 2 doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but for those of us that aren't completely jaded and stuck up, it doesn't have to. I thought it was creepy and fun, and it's that simple.
