Project Origin fails to live up to the FEAR name but it's still fun to paint the walls with blood and gore!
The games not that bad in fact the gameplay is quite good and the graphics is really good. That's when you play on max settings. As those are the only aspects that incent players to play FEAR 2.
FEAR 2 is better in fact a lot better than its prequel but because when the original FEAR was released it raised the bar for FPS, FEAR 2 has failed to do. If you've played FEAR 2 and you go back and play the original, you'll definitely like FEAR 2 more thanks to the improved visuals. That's what I think though.
The new weapon models are quite good but they are slightly too big for the characters but that's minor issues. The weapons feel like they have n recoil therefore making them feel extremely weak making it imbalanced especially when it tears an enemy apart.
The campaign puts you in the boots of Michael Beckett whose delta team feels completely ragtag. Especially when the team leader has a "don't know don't care" attitude. You'd think it would concentrate on another F.E.A.R. team but nooooo. I personally like the delta team better though. Too bad half the team consists of idiots. There wasn't much of a story for FEAR 2 which is extremely disappointing as the original has an award winning storyline.
What got me the most was the E3 Trailer, which had graphics (especially shadow quality) better than the released version of FEAR 2, which was really disappointing. Heres a link if you want to see for yourself:
You fight your way around 10 missions with your slow-mo ability and your arsenal of futuristic weapons. Ocassionally you get to fight in a mech suit capable of ripping through hundreds or enemies.
Every enemy from FEAR 1 is still present in this one looking sharper than before but you fight more zombie like enemies. This is a very bad decision to put them in the game but I guess they were the only scare elements in the game because Alma is no longer scare. To be honest I get scares from FEAR 1 even when I've clocked it 2 times but I played through this game leaning on the back of my chair also sipping my coffee.
Overall the new zombie like enemies were NOT appreciated, the storyline was not well thought out and the ending scarred my head. Apart from that if you like run and gun shooters FEAR 2 is alright. FEAR 2 is still a very fun game.
To an extent it's our fault FEAR 2 wasn't as good as it should. Monolith did do everything we asked for however it just didn't work out. More colours were a bad decision as FEAR needed the creepy and gritty atmosphere.
