Intended to be spooky, but we get a great shooter instead.

i'll start this off first by saying, i haven't played all the f.e.a.r games. that being said, i honestly believe this game to be the best one in the series so far. the game is short of scares, which in my opinion is a good thing because the fear games have been only a series of jump out scares, they build no tension whatsoever. one moment your walking down a hall and then something scampers above you on the ceiling, and then you shoot some guys rinse and repeat. Fear 3's lack of "scares" in my opinion works for the better, with little scares developers get to focus more on the gameplay...which happens to be shooting, and shooting in fear 3 is really really good. All the weapons are powerful, every weapons bite matches or exceeds it's bark. grenades are varied and useful for many situations, they are very accurately thrown and realistically thrown you throw a grenade in fear 3 as far as you could in real life. The sound as with many horror games is excellent in fear 3, in the heat of combat you'll be hearing every single bullet hit the surrounding area kicking up dust and debris. graphics aren't exactly the best but not every game needs to look like crysis to be good. the story is satisfying to an extent for seasoned f.e.a.r operatives however it may be uninviting and confusing to newcomers, you'd have to play a previous f.e.a.r title to grasp the story so far so if you have some extra cash I'd suggest buying a used copy of fear 2 so you can catch up.
gameplay is the shining point for this game, every slide kick and headshot carries impact and feels rewarding the addition of slow mo definitely distinguishes f.e.a.r 3 from the other cod copies.
overall fear 3 is a solid and fun game that deserves your time and attention.
