Although Field Commander is very simular to Advance Wars, it takes what made Advance Wars so good, but does it better.

Fans of turn based strategy games will feel an instant familiarity to Advance Wars when start Field Commander. The story of Field Commander seems a bit Cliche with names such as "Strike Zone" and "Aqualung" as enemy CO's. Aside from the linear story, the graphics and the feel of the game itself is great. The ability to use numerous strike centers (such as air strikes and napalm strikes) is very nice and adds a new mix of strategy to the gameplay. Also, unlike Advance Wars, Field Commander uses the actual names of the guns and weapons used by each unit on the battlefield. However I still question how the tanks of the future have their treads still exposed. Wouldn't the tanks of the future have them shielded? Anyway Field Commander is one of the best PSP games to date that actually features online play (which is ok, but I can't find a good match so that's why I didn't write much about it).
