This is the PSP rendition of Advance Wars and it's just as good!
I am a huge fan of Advance Wars and have been looking for an equivalent for the PSP since getting my PSP all that time ago. This has not let me down at all, it is just what I was looking for and a great addition to the growing list of quality games that are being released on the PSP.
Anyone that is familiar with AV will be able to pick this up and jump straight in with very little trouble. Everyone else will know exactly what to do by the end of the tutorials and be achieving in very little time at all.
First impressions are good, it has a nice interface, well laid out screen and the visuals are pretty good. Sound is great and there are plenty of meaty explosions etc and of course lots of voice acting from the commanders, which really does give the game that extra special touch.
Gameplay is almost identical to AW but just a bit prettier. The games flow nicely and the story / campaign mode is very good.
What sets this one apart though is the excellent online play. You have the usual PSP - PSP modes but also Infrastructure as well meaning you can host or join other people over the Internet. This adds an extra dimension of gameplay and is a lot more challenging than playing against the AI.
So all in all this is a great game and one that should be in everyones collection if turn based strategy games are your thing. I love it!
