I've heard this is very similar to Alliance Wars for the DS, which was a big hit. I've not played that. So far, the game is pretty good, however, I'm a bit dissappointed by some of the rules of the turn based operation. The fact that a unit ALWAYS gets to attack back, when attacked, sucks. And there aren't really any attack of opportunities as units run past you. This really plays and feels more like a "tactical" game (because of the smaller scale battle), and really screams of D&D. I wish they had thought through some of the attacks a little better. I've attacked a single enemy unit with 5 of my units, all in one round, and that enemy unit was allowed to return attacks for each...all in that round. I can understand 1, and maybe even 2, as an attack of opportunity, but 5?!? It makes it a "focus on one unit and kill it first" deal that isn't very realistic. I sure hope/wish they would do something more like the D20 system and D&D for movements and attacks. Or maybe I'm just going to have to wish/wait for a D&D 3.5 TBS game...
Still, not a bad game, once you get past the issue above.
