Involving, gets you absorbed in the gameplay and delivers a fully liscenced feel...
Fifa is immersive, the gameplay feels fluid and realistic, you find yourself charging up the field, chipping the ball over a goalkeeper 3 feet from you and you let out a "YES!" each time you score, the physics feel like you have control and let you remove yourself from reality. A tackle is made and the ball goes out loose, yet a defender runs in, snags it and within moments there's another goal (admittedly Chelsea vs West brom was always going to be easy) The simple fact that the game is absorbing makes it addictive, and while it can get tedious to play randomly over again, theres a whole wealth of tournaments to try out.
The graphics aren't bad, though they are fairly flaky, but the menus are crisp and pleasing, plus to compensate, there is a general professional look to the game, all the right strips, players, a real soundtrack, it beats it's rivals here by simply being liscenced.
the commentary is a nice touch, and although fairly repetitive, occasionally wrong and sometimes random or late, makes you admire your team all the more, what is wierd is how they seem to be brainwashing you wish "the advantage rule is awesome" seriously, listen to it and you'll see ;)
There are two mini-games, juggling is fun but i suck at it, and wall attack is fantastic! but the real deal here is manager mode, choose a team, lead it to victory, simple but add in transfers, a budget, set objectives, ticket pricing, player salary, interviews, players out to play for their country, team morale etc, and you quickly find yourself never leaving manager mode...
all in all i reckon that if you buy this game as a football addict you will be impressed, if you buy this game as a gamer, you'll be impressed, if you buy this game as a regular person, you'll be impressed, but not as much, you need to appriciate certain things, still the most mainstream footie game out there.
to improve: team up with championship manager
