This is an example of EA playing favourites when it comes to which version to pick.

User Rating: 5 | FIFA 21: Legacy Edition NS

The good: The gameplay, visual and sound is as good as ever...

The bad: ... but using FIFA 16 engine and minimal modes makes Switch look like second class citizen compare to XboxOne and PS5.

Let's get it out of the way! For those who don't know what legacy edition is, simply a console sports edition while looking good, it strips out the things that makes it inferior to the more powerful counterparts. Of course, the gameplay and AI works well the way it should as a football game. The visual is on par with Xbox360 and PS4 and the sound is nice and crisp with a choice with different commentators in different languages.

The Legacy happens a couple of times. A few on the Wii and 3DS. The Wii U is almost similar and now with 20 and 21, it's just updated rosters but with minimal modes and treating Nintendo fans with a lack of honesty. And that's what is happening with this game. EA is thinking with XboxOne and PS5 with more powerful graphics and space "we could do whatever we want and make it work while the Switch will be handled by Ignite without doing much to please those fans". I don't want to go on about it but you've seen it in the past before: for example, say FIFA Germany World Cup 2006 in which you can see the console difference with the graphics to from Xbox, PS2 to the Gamecube and NDS.

If EA had followed 2K's lead say NBA 2K series and keep all modes while pulling off the graphics in 30 frames a second rather than say "This is what Nintendo wants: as long as it's not the same as XboxOne and Playstation 5, it will sell like we wanted", we would've been treated equal like rock stars instead of a kids band. I mean there's nothing wrong with having lower graphics as long as it works well with gameplay that is find tuned for the Nintendo audience. Seriously, I want the legacy to be "we Nintendo is up with the big boys" instead of the legacy "of being treated like second class citizens". We deserve better than that since FIFA 09 on the Wii!
