I got this game recently on the super-cheap, and I'm pretty sure that I'd have paid the full amount on its release. As with all Fifa games, it is very easy to win a match, or a season, but is still very enjoyable. The difficulty levels do have huge leaps between them (with world class being very hard). By today's standards this game is poor, but considering its release date it is still a good game, despite being nearly a decade old. The graphics are clear enough, there is a good range of teams with all the players of the time, and some good team management options. The passing/tackling/shooting is all very easy. The oppostion goalkeeper also reacts to the score, taking its goal kicks slowly if their team is winning. The refereeing is also rather leniant, as you can slide tackle all the way round the pitch and very rarely get called up for a foul, never mind being yellow or red carded. There is notably also a rather repetitive commentary loop from John Motson. But, for all of us with our old school consoles, if you want a football game, get Fifa 99, cheap and highly enjoyable with a good multiplayer mode.
