Another year always comes with another FIFA game. Maybe some years ago this was not a matter of expectation form the video game community, but today the FIFA franchise is now a very well referent to the soccer gaming. FIFA Soccer 10 for the Nintendo DS has many improvements from its processor (FIFA Soccer 09) that make it worthy to play.

The first impression you have when you select your team and game options are not surprising; the game looks nothing uncommon, until you see both teams entering the field and notice that the stadium is very detailed. Then you start playing and depending on the camera setting you will see a closer perspective to each player or you can adjust it as any other soccer game with the standard "Television" camera for example. At this point you will see that the graphics were totally improved from the previous game, the players looks good and the field and its environment look delightful. Replays are good enough to immerse you in the game and actually the detail level is so impressive that you can read the player's name in his back; a detail that is very grateful considering the console's capacity.

Talking about game play, the game offers you the option to control your players in two different ways: with the Classic control mode you use a similar button configuration form the past FIFA's, or the Arcade control mode that allows you to have a button configuration similar to PES series, with B being X, Y square, X triangle, A circle and does similar with the other buttons. Definitely this is a great way to attract other players to the franchise that are accustomed to the PES series. The game speed is good and there are many very real aspects during the game that make it more interesting like the passes and shoots precision, or the Penalty kick and Free Kick shoots which are controlled with the DS Stylus.

FIFA Soccer 10 has a decent number of options to play alone, like tournaments, cups, Manager Mode (in which you take the roll of a DT who guides his team through the National League), Professional Mode (very similar to PES' Become a Legend, in which you can create a character and lead him to the glory) and the facility to play against other players from around the world through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or the local LAN DS connection.

The only aspect in which FIFA Soccer 10 is failing is in the sound system. During the game you listen to a narrator who is following the game with his commentaries, which actually are a little bit repetitive. But during the menus and Pause menu you will hearing the same 4 songs chosen for the game, which is a pathetic number considering the big amount of songs in other FIFA games. They must certainly improve this aspect for the next FIFA games.

To conclude, FIFA Soccer 10 is a worthy to play game that will definitely immerse you in the soccer action, with impressive graphics and a nicer game play; this is the best soccer game for the DS, despite of its poor music.
