I am a football fan, and had not bought a football game since '99 on the good ol' N64. So I went out and bought '05. I was impressed by the way the game works and the various different modes, but the game wore off after a while. The gameplay is fairly smooth and their is a lot more control over the team as a whole, rather than just the selected player. Also, the defence has been tightened up so the game is more of a challenge and there a less 8-0 drubbings.
The graphics are fairly average, but there is a lot of detail on kits and the stadiums are impressive. The crowd is made of cardboard, however.
The sound is OK. The commentators have more to say than in previous FIFA outings, but still mess things up. The soundtrack isn't bad either. The game would take quite a while to complete, filling your trophy room, getting all the unlockables and completing a 15 year career, so the value is pretty good.
