Fifa Street 2 FaIls Flat Compared To A Real Life Street Soccer Game.

User Rating: 6.7 | FIFA Street 2 PS2
The Good: Lengthy career mode; deep customizing features; soinds great and a load of unlockables. Great player progress.

The Bad: The gameplay is quite a lot of fun at first and it doesn't leave a lasting impression. Players could've looked a lot better. No online.

While Fifa Street 2 has improved over its predecessor, it has only been a slight improvement. The gameplay has improved quite significantly from Fifa Street but it still isn't enough to enjoy this game, even for a soccer fan. I'm a soccer fan my self and when I first played Fifa Street 2, I thought, "This is okay, not great, but ok." As I played more and more the game got old before I knew it. Sure, there are a lot of tricks that you can unlock, but the tricks get old too. Sooner or later you'll be doing the same exact tricks, scoring the same goals and conceding the same goals as well. The game has a quite lengthy career mode, "Rule The Streets" but it just isn't enough to make this game fun. The gameplay and tricks are a complete disgrace to real life soccer. At times you'll be doing tricks and your opponent will just stand there watching you until he decides to tackle you for the ball. The same thing happens when the AI is performing tricks, there's no certain button that you can press to for your player to automatically go and takcle your opponnent. You'll have to run to your opponent and then press the square button (PS2 version). At times AI will do a really simple trick and your player will fall and will really take his time to get up again. Remmeber one thing that everytime you're gettin ready to shoot for a goal, you had better performed a trick or two if you want to get it past the goalie. There will be many times when you are one-on-one with the goalie and if you simply shoot, chances are that the golaie will save the shot; you have to perform and simple trick in order to score. The goalie saving the shot in this situation is really stupid, cause there's no way that he could save a shot with that huge goal on a one-on-one situation. Rule The Streets mode is for one thing and one thing only, not scoring a goal but performing as many tricks as you can. While you might be able to score more goals than your opponent, if your opponent has more performance points that you, then you lost this game.
Street soccer is the only sport that I have played my whole life so far and this game doesn't come close at all to what me and my friends used to play like. I know that they have the nice tricks and all, something that would be quite hard for me to pull off, not because I can't do the trick, but becuase my real life opponent must be a really bad soccer player for me to get past him with those tricks. As I mentioned earlier, AI will do some tricks and your player will fall; this is something that happens once in a Millenium in real life. I just don't understand how the player can do a bicycle kick and then end up on his feet (instead of his back).
There is no commentary on the game, but instead you have radio channels like GTA. The voice acting is great and so is the music. The DJ has a British accent to make the game feel Euorpean even though there are times when you will be plying in the U.S.
A soccer fan wont' really appreciate Fifa Street 2, mostly becuase of it's gameplay and lack of club teams. I know that you won't be playing in a league but it would've been nice to have some club teams. The game does have a deep customizing feature where you can customize the players looks' and uniform. You won't be able to select certain uniforms at first, but you can unlock them as you progress in the game.
As far as visuals go, the game looks ok and it should've looked a lot better since there are not a lot of players or huge crowds to focus on, like Fifa or Winning Eleven Series. The players look somewhat like their real-life counterparts.
If you're a fan of games like Fifa or Winning Eleven, and you don't just play soccer games but also watch soccer, then this isn't the game for you. This is a whole different soccer game, where scoring a goal won't get you anywhere but running around and performing some really nice tricks will make you the winner.
