Oh dear...EA

User Rating: 4.6 | Fight Night 2004 XBOX
It is hard to say whether people in general will enjoy Fight Night. Its flashy menus and amazing selection of boxers dazzles the player into a false sense of security. Lets not forget that this is an EA sports game though. The highly acclaimed and pivotal selling point of the game, 'Total Punch Control (TPC)', is a massive let down. I was expecting freedom from minotinous punches all being the same. I thought that you WOULD be able to CONTROL your fists with the thumbsticks, and you can, but only to a limited extent. There are only 6 punches to throw. It basically changes the button pressing into movement of the thumbstick, instead of re-vamping boxing games' controls. The career mode is abysmal, it is short, and when played on easy or medium is ridiculously easy. Is it now a trend for games to be as easy as pie to keep the player happy? Well, I am long awaiting the PAL version of Ninja Gaiden (over here in Britain) and hope to see this cut the ugly trend. Anyway, back to Fight Night, suffice to say that it is made by EA. They have wasted a possibly revolutionary idea in this instalment, that doesnt even match up to old classics like 'Knock-out Kings'. A highly over-hyped game (then again, as I said, it was made by EA) that should only be bought by people who like to make themselves feel big by ripping up their far-to-easy opponents.
