More different from the PC version than at first glance. A fair bit of the content is questionable.
The only problem with that is that, of course, not all the levels were gonna make the conversion. And unfortunately, they seem to have taken my favorite levels out. I have fond memories of levels like Mount Pain, Last Call, or Go 2 It. And neither of those levels are in this one. It's not all lost hope. Ballistyx made it here, and I like that one a lot. Also, since both Final Doom and Master Levels for Doom II are very obscure games, chances are you haven't played the levels before, so you can get some nice surprises.
It also has a nice feature that the PC games don't--health/weapons not resetting in the transfer between episodes. In the PC games, switching episodes would reset your health to 100, your armor to 0, and you'd only have a pistol with 50 bullets in it. Here, however, when you transfer episodes (for clarification, the 13 Master Level levels count as Episode 1, then the 11 TNT levels as Episode 2, and finally the 6 Plutonian Experiment levels as Episode 3), your weapons and health stay as they were. Good idea that saves frustration.
Even though my score isn't very high, if you never played the PC Final Doom or Master Levels before, this game does get a recommendation from me. While the experience as a whole is a little dampered compared to the PC version, this is probably your most common way of experiencing the games.
