On your own it is as dull as anything but it is pretty fun with mates
Now, Final Fantasy games are kown for their single player orientation. They give the play a single character to play with and a team to attack with in battle. It's story driven gameplay favours long sessions sat infront of the T.V. listening intently to the great voice acting, the complicated plot and the fearsome turn based battles. Well, Square think it is time for a change. And where better than Nintendo's Gamecube which already has a long list of multiplayer games.
So does it work, well basically NO.
With mates it is a fun expereince, it is complicated and the chances of having four mates who like FF and are willing to come round and play are slim.
To add insult to injury, the single player is more dull than Mario Party singleplayer, and that takes some beating.
The sad thing is, this could work very well. If the single player had a beter combat system (this is really the only thing that lets it down) it would have been more fun. On you own the combat becaomes a game of cat and mouse where you have to run at an enemy, hit them and run away again.
If this combat was sorted out it would have been a lot more fun. Shame.
