Great pick up and go game, perfect for short bursts of RPG fun!
Final Fantasy 1 is the star of the cart. Though light (very very light) on story this fast and fun version of the original NES game is a perfect entry point for new RPG fans. The magic system has been streamlined and leveling up comes easily. The added dungeons help to boost your characters a bit while still keeping the main game challenging. Final Fantasy 1 is high on replay value. Unlike Final Fantasy 2 you get to pick and choose the characters in your party.
Final Fantasy 2 is story heavy, while not as text heavy as later Final Fantasy games you will still be doing a lot of reading. I was mainly displeased with the level up system in the game. The innovative system rewards the abilities you use the most. While this is a good idea it does not play well, especially later in the game when you receive some of the most powerful spells. I found myself casting certain spells over and over again just to build them up. The added adventure is not that interesting but it does serve as a nice add on. The story is interesting and the characters are well written I just wish they were in a different RPG. The sound in both games is good though not spectacular. This is a good game for anyone who wants to start playing RPGs and is a little intimidated by them at the same time. Instruction Manuel is not too essential.
