Good game, but the memories of it were better.

User Rating: 7.7 | Final Fantasy IV Advance GBA
In 1992 the very first game I bought for my SNES with Final Fantasy 2. It would remain one of my favorite games on the system for years. So when it became available for the GBA I grabbed it immediately. Unforunately, the game just didn't do it for me this time around. That's not the say that it wasn't fun or that I didn't enjoy it, but at times it was rather boring and unlike 14 years ago, I'm not in a hurry to play it again. I'd still recommend the game in a heartbeat to someone who hadn't play it before, but to those who spent time with the original I wouldn't tell them to be in a hurry to pick it up.

The story and characters still remain the best part of the game. It's a classic RPG story, but it's done very well and you quickly become attached to new characters as you meet them. However for someone who has gone through it several times before, it's just not as exciting as it once was. There are some dialogue changes, and the story is a bit more in depth, but there's nothing dramatically different. Still as I said before, for newbies the story is great and needs experienced at least once.

There are some new dungeons that allow you to use characters that you originally never got a second chance to use after they left your party. While it's kind of cool, ultimately it doesn't add much more to the experience other than just more filler and starts to get old again about 15 minutes. However if you really really like turn based combat maybe you'll enjoy it.

Overall I still give the game a thumbs up. It's a great piece of history and I don't regret buying it. However, I think I enjoyed remembering how much liked playing it more than I actually liked playing it this go around. Everyone needs to platy it, but I don't think you need to put it at the top of your list. But I do think everyone needs to play it, but I don't think you need to put it at the top of your list.
