Return to FF oldschool!
The graphics were detailed with small little pixels used in FF8. The cities were detialed the same as well. Graphically, now much of an improvement from FF8's technology. 8/10
In FF7, we saw more of a weapon based game where everyone could use magic. In FF8 we saw a similar thing, but summons laid the key to magic, simular to FF6. In FF9, square brought back the class specific characters. They brougth in the theif, black mage, summoner, white mage, dragoon, ninja, knight, magical knight, blue mage. With weapons and armor came special ablities that could be used when wearing the armor or weapon, or learned once the item reaches a high level. The random ablilties learned by each character played a major roll against bosses, expecially the final boss, which is still one of the hardest bosses in FF histroy. The battle system was like the previous excpet each character had class related abilities. Also limit breaks were brougth back like that of FF7. gameplay- 9/10
Square continued to bring in the great storyline. Each character had internal conflicts and it was expressed throught the story tot he point where you enarly feel in love with every character. This game also was one of the first to introduce not just one enemy, but a series of foes to fued with. storyline -9/10
My final thought on this FF, is that from ff6-ff8, the series grew into a more modernized game. We saw robotic units and guns in FF6 to futuristic cities in FF7, to an all out future world in FF8. Then everything feel into the past in FF9 which seemed to derail alot of people. But aside from everything, this is a classic and one of my favorites. I grew up as a kid seeing the old "fantasy" final fantasy's and FF9 was a dream to play. tolt 10/10
