FF9. The anomale. It -is- a great game. However it is a great game amongst masterpieces. I feel guilty not loving it?!

The anomale: a final fantasy that I didn't fall for. For those familiar with the series (which really should be any gamer alive), this is a profound idea. "9" is a great, solid title, with a myriad of classic mini games and optionals, a fascinating game world, with creative characters, and a formidable engine design.

I never thought i'd say this, but it is a final fantasy without an epic story. in fact the story's kinda weird, and at some level anti-climactic. It's not bad at all! It's just so different, you almost wouldn't believe it were a final fantasy until you saw Cid, Bahamut, Shiva and Ifrit.

Also, and God help me for the recrimination, but the graphics seemed like a step back from "8"'s glorious visuals. How the heck did that happen?

I want to love this game, but I just can't. As most gamers I will often trade games out of my library for newer games to save $$. To this day, '9' is the only Final Fantasy I have ever traded. I still own every other entry in the series. I truly wish I cared enough to get this one back.
