Final Fantasy IX contains everything a good, classic rpg should contain!!!
Granted the game doesn't do anything revolutionary in terms of graphics, sound, or gameplay, it continues in a wonderful tradation and ends the plastation one era of FF games which boasted three titles.
The problem with this game is, at least I believe, that it gets lost due to the proximity of its release being close to that of the playstation 2. That being said, let me give a brief review.
Gameplay--9.0. Absolutely solid. Classic turn-based. I am not a huge fan of the "trance." Would have prefered the limit break from FFVII.
Graphics--8.5. Very good for playstation one, however nothing we hadn't seen before. The cutscenes were few and far between.
Sound--9.0. Awesome music. A lot of nostalgia from previous games. No voice acting.
Replay Value--10.0 I put 40 plus hours into the game. And it spans 4 disks. Tons to do here.
Overall, this is one of my favorite RPGS of all time. You are getting a great, timeless story that will keep you busy for hours at a time. I just got done playing and beating it for the third time. A must buy!!!
