If you have even the slightest interest in tile-based, turned-based rpgs, im sure you already know that the original FFT for PS1 was one of the greats of all time. The new PSP version is a very competent port of the original PS1 game. The only flaw I noticed was some slow down here and there. Really its not that big of a deal to me (others may have differing opinions). Everything else about this package is very positive. All of the original gameplay that made this game a classic is still there and 100% in tact. There is also a significant amount of new content to entice PS1 vets to buy this game and take the plunge again.
Bottom line: For fans of the original this game is an absolute must buy. If you are not currently a fan of this type of RPG, do yourself a favor and give FFT a try. I doubt you will be disappointed.
P.S. Havent touched the new multiplayer mode; roommate sold his PSP last year so no multiplayer for me :'(
