This game is a prime example that you do not need over the top graphics or sounds to make a good game. The fact that this game is honored by the 'final fantasy' badge should be enough for you to know you have a true gem of a game.

For those of you unfamiliar with the game I want to make this much clear, this is not your typical final fantasy. In fact if your looking for a typical RPG with trademark exploration and character control simulation this is not your game. That being said this game should be in the top five of any strategy loving gamer. Your given the freedom to customize your party as you see fit into different classes or jobs, anywhere from a chemist to a white mage to a knight, mix in a little time control with the some oracle abilities. The sky is literally the limit. I also like the fact that as in true battle, characters can and do get killed, so watching a character you worked so hard on leveling dying and never coming back adds to the suspense of the game.

Neither the graphics nor the sounds are up to date to today's standards. But that is sometimes a good thing. It takes you back to the good old days of gaming, the days where gameplay, replay and overall enjoyability had the edge over how pretty a game looked or sounded. Not to say the graphics are horrible, they have enough to keep you entertained; the sound system is mostly shadowed by a terrific musical score given to us by the same composer of the main Final Fantasy franchise.

All in all this game is the reason I bought a PSP, why? because I yearned for the games of old; the gaming days where playability was more important than frame-rates and HDTV.

If you are a serious gamer with a yearning for something challenging, nostalgic but not to dated to enjoy. Buy this game.
